The IWC Aquatimer debuted in 1967 as IWC Schaffhausen’s first dedicated dive watch. Its original reference 812 featured an automatic Calibre 8541 movement, 200-metre water resistance and an innovative internal rotating bezel operated by a second crown.

In 1982, IWC introduced the titanium Ocean 2000, designed by Ferdinand A. Porsche, pushing underwater engineering further. The GST Deep One followed in 1999 with a mechanical depth gauge. In 2009, the Aquatimer received a major redesign featuring an external/internal rotating bezel system. Its 50th anniversary in 2017 brought limited editions and Ceratanium®.
