Patek Philippe Calatrava Double Signed ‘Gubelin’ Ref: 3440J-SCI

A very special Patek Philippe Calatrava Double Signed ‘Gubelin’ Ref: 3440J-SCI. Just back from a 2025 Patek Geneva service.

The 3440 was introduced circa 1961 and only produced until around 1967, its part of the Calatrava collection but with some distinguishing features, a screw on case back, double edged bezel, angular down turned lugs.

The movement is the Caliber 27-460, Patek’s automatic movement with 37 jewels, gold rotor, “Gyromax” balance.

The 34.5mm case is a modest size by todays standards, but the case depth of 10mm, bezel and lugs give the 3440 a weight feel and good wrist presence.

“Gübelin” is a prestigious Swiss retailer / jeweller and they sold Patek Philippe watches; sometimes Patek dials were “double signed” to include the name of the retailer (in this case “Gübelin”) beneath the Patek branding. This increases desirability and rarity.
