The Rolex GMT-Master ref. 1675 was introduced in 1959 as the successor to the original ref. 6542. Developed for professional pilots and Pan Am crews, it allowed simultaneous reading of local and Greenwich Mean Time through its distinctive 24-hour bezel and additional GMT hand. Produced for over two decades, the 1675 became one of Rolex’s most recognisable sports watches. Early examples featured pointed crown guards and gilt dials, while later models introduced crown guards, matte dials and aluminium bezels.
